JWH and I recently shopped for an alarm clock. We need a dual alarm, since I, ummm, sleep until the last possible second. Seriously. He sets his for 6:40 and I set mine for 6:47. What? He'll be in in the shower during those 7 minutes. Am I supposed to moon about outside the door?
Anyway. Alarm clocks. Hideous. All of them. We went to Best Buy, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and then an actual KMart. KMart had one that was not: an iPod dock, shaped like SpongeBob, pink, faux retro, a white noise machine, a large-type projector, or a nature sounds aroma-therapy thingamabob. Really, 4 stores to find a simple, small, dual alarm.
So, upon returning for a day of bog box retail, I hit the web. And, sure, people have all sorts of "round ups" of cool yuppie-design alarm clocks. But who pays $300 for an alarm clock? I'm thinking $75, tops...call it $25 per year of expected service..
Areaware has this iPod dock for an improbably low $40. It's nice. But I like to leave my phone downstairs. And, with no phone in it, well, it's a hunk of wood. Am I right?
Brookstone has this one for $40 as well. Kind of sleek. Sure, it claims all sorts of "smart" functions, but as long as it's smallish and relatively good looking, really, that's all I want. I have simple needs.
And, well, if we really want a nice looking clock, we could get 2 single alarms. Muji has these in beech and walnut. $34.95 each.
Dear god, if you see any other likely candidates, let me know. Who knew it would be this hard?
A) I haven't gotten up as late as 6:40 in years - that's your alarm
B) I like the Muji option with 2 of them. Make mine Beech, please.

Would you still be the keeper of the alarms? If I have to set mine...well, you know I might just be allergic to that act.
