Before. (The rotting wood version.)

Home decor blogger love to show "before and after" pictorials of nifty upholstery projects or thrift-store makeovers. Yeah, that's cool. But the story of this summer at HH is that we are striving for, saving for, and struggling through "afters" that are decidedly un-sexy. I'll start with the before shots.

For one, the hole in the back step. Not bugs. Mildew, Yeah, it's been that kind of spring.

For two, the hatch cover. Years of benign neglect.
