So, sometimes it just happens that you have an idea percolating and then, wham-o, a solution hits you in the face. I kind of had that the other day. After a long, long, long few weeks at work, I was catching up with my friend Google Reader and I came across this: Fab Freebie: Here’s Looking At You, Mate | Young House Love.
Yeah, I missed the actual giveaway by a mile. But, I had been thinking about framing out the mirror in the hall bath. I'm liking the more natural tones in there (brought in by the roman shade and the shower curtain) and thought a wood frame might just help it along on it's way from crappy to snappy.
I was contemplating asking JWH to whip something up with his mitre box. But, that kind of project takes mucho wife-points, and I fear I'm a little low in that account. So then I though, as any girl does...Dad? So, back of my mind was to approach the oldster on making a frame. But how to attach it?? See, the mirror goes all the way to the corner. No wall space in which to drill. And, my (miss-you-so-much-please-come-back) contractor has told me that the mirror was put up to cover a world of sins. The wall is apparently made of toothpicks and Mod Podge.
(Hmm, side thought that maybe trusted contractor only scared me off this whole bathroom remodel because he was going to be busy for a long while. Perhaps when he's ready to come back he'll be like, "Psyche! It's all good, there are no weird plumbing issues or bowed floors! Now let's rip out this vanity and retile this puppy!" Probably not...sigh.)
So, anyway, back to Young House Love. Their style is not my style and while I typically don't aspire to add MDF to my house....well, sometimes a frame that can be mounted with adhesive right onto the glass? Well, that just kind of make sense. The folks at Mirror Mate seem to have figured out how to handle any and all mirror placement problems. See?
How do they do that? Seems to have something to do with their super high-tech installation:
Anyway. I'm all over this. Just gotta measure and balance the 'ol checkbook. I may or may not have recently gone on a MiniBoden spree...
