You know how when you buy a house and have an inspection you find all sorts of things wrong? And then you know how you move in and find all sorts more little things? Well, while we have gotten better at catching the biggies (someday I'll tell you about the house that had a few windows open, as it was a fine spring day...turned out that the open windows did not close, and several of the closed ones did not open. So, yeah, we check the windows now...) Anyway, Holiday House was renovated by a real gem of a contractor. He's a perfectionist. So, most things were done just right and the house sailed through the inspection. But, this story is about the oddest, littlest, most annoying thing that we found after moving in.
Begin by picturing us sweaty and dirty from moving and painting, but still a few hours from having the bun returned to us from Nana's house. I decide to try out the glorious Kohler "Tea for Two" tub that came in the master bath. It's humongous. You can sit in it and be covered up to your chin. So, up I go to soak a bit. To stop up the drain in the "Tea for Two" you push this little flap, see it here?
Right. Push, crack, crash. The metal cover on this stylishly modern little stopper hit the deck at the first mere touch of human hands. Great. The back revealed that it had been doctored by a little sticky putty/chewing gum. Thanks, previous owner. So, we spent the next 2 years trying to get that stupid cover to stick back on. We tried every single adhesive we could find.
(Yes, Billy Mays fans, that is Mighty Putty you see there.)
None of these worked. Not a one. All the while, I googled and googled. Someone else must have this problem, right? And they can tell me how to fix it??? Nope. So, that is why I am here today. Next time someone googles "Kohler Tea for Two tub stopper repair" they will see this post. To you, intrepid follower, I say, go to Ace Hardware and buy this:
